PRODUCT AND USE

1. Can I use the 12V25 / 12V50 / 24V50 Angling li-ion battery to power my E-Motor/Trolling motor?
The voltage of our 12V batteries is slightly higher than with lead-acid batteries, so please review the instruction manual of your trolling engine to check whether your engine accepts voltages up to 16.8V. Only use the battery when this is the case.  The 24V50 Angling li-ion battery works with all 24V electric trolling motors. When in doubt contact the manufacturer of our trolling motor and/or review the instruction manual.

2. How do I safely connect my electric trolling motor to the 12V25 / 12V50 / 24V50 battery?
Always use battery cables (with M8 tongue connectors) of sufficient thickness and (ANEN) plug connectors to connect your trolling motor to a Rebelcell battery for a safe and reliable connection. The Quick Connect EM cable was specifically developed for this purpose. Always use a suitable fuse between the battery and trolling motor to protect both. Never use crodocile clamps to connect your trolling engine to the battery! These connections are not safe and can result in heat development, dangerous situations and damage to your trolling engine and battery. Damage caused by unsuitable connectors or cabling is expliclty excluded from our warranty terms.

3. How long is the runtime with my Rebelcell battery?

That depends on the type of trolling motor, the speed in which it is used and the conditions (currents, wind, temperature). You can find more details in the productinformation in the webshop.

4. How can the 12V50 Angling li-on battery replace a 12V105Ah lead-acid battery in practice?
This has to do with li-ion technology. In contrast to lead-acid batteries (that can only be discharged to a maximum of 50% to 70%) our li-ion batteries can be fully (100%) discharged.  In addition it makes no difference for the capacity of our batteries if you discharge in 20 hours, or in 5 hours. This is very different with lead-acid batteries:  the actual capacity of a lead-acid battery can be up to 35% lower than the sticker capacity if discharged quickly, as a lot of energy is lost in heat and cannot be used to power your e-motor.  It is a bit like an old fashioned light bulb vs a LED: a 60W light bulb gives the same amount of light than a 10W LED, as a lot of energy is lost to heat (and this is not the case with a LED).  As a result of these two factors in practice the effective runtime of our 12V50 Angling li-ion battery is comparable to a 12V105Ah lead-acid battery. This has also been tested and confirmed by both Carp anglers and Predator anglers.

5. How deep can a Rebelcell li-on battery be discharged?
All Rebelcell batteries are protected against abuse through an integrated battery management system (BMS). The battery can be fully discharged (up to 100%) without negative effects on user life or performance. It is recommended to charge the battery as soon as possible if it is fully discharged.

6. Can I use the 12V25 / 12V50 Angling battery with a  24V E-Motor/trolling engine?
That is not possible, and we strongly discourage it. When the batteries are connected in series the voltage becomes too high for safe use with your 24V E-Motor, and it can create irreversible damage. Specially for use with 24V E-Motors (used often in Predator angling boats) we have developed the 24V50 Angling li-ion battery. All product information can be found here.

7. Can I use the 12V11 / 12V25 / 12V50 Angling li-ion battery with a 12V DC/230VAC converter?
That is possible if your converter needs to accept an input voltage of 12V-17V. Most converters however accept lower voltage (max 15V) and therefore will not work with the 12V25 or 12V50 Angling li-ion battery. Review the instruction manual of your inverter for further information. The 12V11 will work with most inverters as it has a lower voltage range (9V-12.6V)

8. Can I use the 12V11 / 12V25 / 12V50 Angling li-on battery with a fishfinder?

Yes, that is possible. The vast majority of fishfinders (with input voltage 12V-17V) can be connected to the battery without issues. Certain types of fishfinders (like the Raymarine Dragonfly series) have a lower input voltage. To use the 12V25 / 12V50 battery with these fishfinders you need to place a DC Stabilisor in between the battery and the fishfinder. This Stabilisor will slightly lower the output voltage of the Rebelcell battery and therefore make it suitable for the Raymarine Dragonfly. The 12V11 battery can be used with all fishfinders (including the Raymarine Dragonfly) without any other converters.

9. Can I use a Rebelcell battery as a starter battery for my outboard or my car?
No, that is not possible. Rebelcell batteries have been designed for use as 'traction' batteries to power electric outboards for extended periods of time, and or will be damaged by the high peak currents that are needed when starting a car or outboard. The best option in this case remains a normal lead-acid starter battery.

9. Are the batteries waterproof?

Our batteries are splashwater proof according to the IP54 standard. They cannot be fully immersed in water or handle heavy rains. To avoid problems use a waterproof battery container and position the battery upright on a slightly elevated level so that it is not continously standing in the water, or water can enter via the top of the battery.  If you use a battery carrying case please ensure that water (from rain for instance) remains in the battery bag as this can damage the battery. Waterdamage is explicitly excluded from our warranty terms.

CHARGING

1. How long does it take to charge my Rebelcell battery? And can I partly charge my battery in between full charge cycles?
Fully charging your battery with the matching charger in your package will take approximately 3 hours (12V11 / 12V25 Angling battery) or 6 hours (12V50 / 24V50 Angling battery). You can also partly charge your battery in between full charge cycles, or stop charging before the battery is full without negative effects on performance or service life of your battery. Please use the charger that came in your package for that battery only, and not to charge other batteries.

2. Can I charge my Rebelcell battery with a lead-acid battery (trickle) charger?

That is not possible. Lead-acid batteries are charged at a different voltage and charging profile than our li-ion batteries. Charging with a lead-acid charger will only charge the batteries up to 30%. A special li-ion battery charger is required with a CC/CV charging profile. Review the specific voltage and other specifics in the product information.

3. Can I charge the 12V25 / 12V50 battery with a solar panel?

Yes, that is possible. You do need a special solar charge controller that delivers the correct voltage and charging profile for our batteries. More information can be found here.

4. How can I best charge the batteries if they are not used for an extended period of time, such as winter storage?
We recommend charging the batteries to 50-70% capacity if they are to be stored, to disconnect the charger and all other equipment and cables from the battery terminals and ,If applicable, to turn off the power button on the top of the battery. Because there is hardly any self-discharge (~ 2-3% per month) the battery will not be empty at the end of winter. No trickle charger is therefore required. For the first use use after storage we recommend to fully charge the battery.

5. Can I charge my smartphone or table with the battery?

You sure can. In the newest model of our 12V25 / 12V50 / 24V50 batteries there is a dual USB port on the battery itself that alllows for simultaneous charging of smartphone and tablet. For the 12V11 battery we have a convenient USB Adapter Duo cable available.

WARRANTY

1. What are the warranty terms?

Rebelcell offers a 2 year warranty on the batteries, and 1 year on accessories. Waterdamage due to use outside of the specifications is excluded from the warranty. For the detailed warranty conditions and exlusions please review our general terms and conditions.
